3D… I’m wondering whether this new way of viewing digital media and entertainment can become an additional medium. Well I took a lot of all of the future potential and best functioning concept out there. I will admit that at first I was turned off by the idea because you had to wear glasses to view the content in 3D format, but more updated systems have been released where the glasses are no longer required.
Now I believe that not all content will be proper & suitable for this format. Certain types of film and digital entertainment content will be a perfect fit and nothing short of an awesome experience. Some of this awesome experience will be delivered on the mobile platforms, where I believe that 3D could be most successful. We already have Nintendo 3DS on the way, but I believe that an extended use can be made of this technology on other platforms, such as smart-phones and outdoor advertisements.
3D is all about fun and entertainment, but I believe that it will serve its purpose through temporary uses rather than full time running medium. Having the option to use 3D will give it a more successful and better appeal to the consumer. Nintendo 3DS has that option, reportedly you can control the level of 3D you want to from a side control on the system where you can rise and lower the effect all the way down to 2D.
I always look forward to newer ways of experiencing entertainment and viewing media. 3D iPad type of devices would be amazing to view content on. Such as digital magazines, fashion, art, etc. and even shopping; that would be great way to promote products, and just selling a cool experience.
Future is very interesting for sure.
